Junior Legal Counsel (m/f/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Berlin

Who we are - Our Mission
terralayr addresses the massive deficit in global energy storage.
The over-indexing of electricity generation from renewable energy sources leads to large volatility on the energy grid. The main problem is that wind and solar farms are fluctuating and, by definition, unsteady—there is no sun at night, and it is not always windy. This increases the need for flexibility in the form of battery storage systems to balance the grid in times when supply and demand do not match.
By buying and developing grid-scale storage assets and virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. Through the flexibility we secure, we can market flexibility-as-a-service and hedging products/power insurance to utilities, SMEs, and industrial players and create virtual storage capacity for PV and wind farms.
What we are hiring for - Your Role
We are seeking a German law qualified Legal Counsel (First and Second State Exam) with minimum 2–3 years’ experience and a strong commercial instinct for our asset business. What you will work on - Your Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) agreements and O&M (Operations & Maintenance) contracts for utility-scale BESS projects.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure contracts are commercially robust and aligned with project delivery timelines.
  • Support project development activities, including agreements with landowners, development partners, and service providers.
  • Advise on legal aspects of permitting, project structuring, and partnership models.
  • Prepare and negotiate agreements with customers and strategic partners.
  • Provide commercially-oriented legal advice to business teams and leadership to enable swift decision-making.
  • Help to shape the strategy and structure of the foremost energy flexibility platform in Europe.
  • Prepare shareholder resolutions, manage statutory filings, and oversee corporate compliance processes.

  • Fully qualified German lawyer (First and Second State Exam) with outstanding results.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ relevant experience, ideally with exposure to EPC/O&M contracting and commercial project work in energy, infrastructure, or related sectors
  • Excellent drafting skills in German and English.
  • Business-oriented mindset and confidence in balancing legal risk with operational needs.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Organized, proactive, and confident engaging with senior stakeholders.
Why you should be excited about this opportunity
  • Direct involvement in high-value, strategically important projects.
  • Clear path to a senior legal leadership role in a high-growth company.
